Professor Raymond Nkado has a passion for academic excellence and integrity of built environment professional service. He holds BScHons degree first class in quantity surveying and best graduate in the Faculty of Engineering (1985) and MSc construction management (1988), Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria; PhD (1991), University of Reading; MBA cum laude and gold medallist 1999, Wits University Business School.
Raymond lectured quantity surveying and construction management courses at Wits University 1994 – 1999. Raymond was appointed professor and head of the department of quantity surveying at the University of Port Elizabeth, now NMMU (1999-2001); executive dean of the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment at Wits University (2001-2006) and is currently honorary visiting professor at Wits University, Johannesburg.
Raymond is founding director of QualConsul QS cc, Chartered Quantity Surveyors and holds directorships at Diagonal Projects Africa (Pty) Ltd (project managers) and at i-Sizeze Consulting and Training (Pty) Ltd, specialists in CPD training and structured candidacy programmes for built environment professional registration. Raymond is a registered and chartered quantity surveyor (PrQS, MRICS), chartered builder (MCIOB), registered construction project manager (Pr.CPM) and a project management professional (PMP). He was chairman of the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) (2008 – 2010), president of the South African Council for the Quantity Surveying Profession (SACQSP) (2005 – 2009) and president of the South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions (SACPCMP) (2009 – 2014).
